*Calls to this number are charged at 5p per minute from BT landlines.
NB If you are calling from a mobile phone we will ask you to redial a separate low-cost mobile only telephone number and also to enter a local landline number on your keypad. This local number could be your own landline or that of a relative, friend or of a local service, such as your doctors or even the library. This is to ensure that you reach the correct service for your area and to receive the advice you need. Thank you for your co-operation.
The telephone assessor will take you through an initial assessment to determine the best way in which we can help you. This might be through
• Providing you with information such as factsheets or leaflets
• Directing or transferring you to another service
• Referring you to an adviser if your enquiry is complex
• Or referring you to a specialist service either here at the bureau or with a partner agency
There is a high demand for our service and we receive most of our calls at the beginning of each session between 10 and 11 am.
Please see our Information section for details of how to access information and advice on the internet and also for details of other national and local services who may be able to help you.
