The charity receives help and support in the form of voluntary assistance in advising the public and in administering the charity's operation. 45 volunteers contributed nearly 20176 hours of work to KCABS during the year, compared to 17,000 last year. We estimate the monetary value of this help to be about £246,000 (2007 -£216,000 and 2006 -£203,000).
The increase in our input from volunteers is partly due to our Students' Project, whereby we recruit and train young people to work on our reception desk, get involved in our campaigning work and carry out research work on complex cases.
This innovative scheme is noted nationally as an example of good practice and it is our hope that we shall expand our support for young people as a result of this project and increase their awareness of the relevance to them of the service we provide.
The Trustee Board is extremely grateful to all our volunteers for their support and dedication.
